Community Of Strength
I grew up in a small town with my four brothers where we were always doing things outdoors and playing sports together. We where our own Hockey team. We where are all super close. I have been living here now in Long Beach for the past 3 and a half years with my two children, away from any of my brothers or family due to different circumstances that occurred in my life. I was always super depressed and went to a 24 hour gym religously to release my depression and anger. I would spend countless hours there and not get to where I wanted to be.
CrossFit Journey: I first heard about CrossFit in December of 2008 when a friend of mine was opening gym just down the street from my house in San Clemente, for about a month he tried and tried to get me to go workout with him. On January 3rd, 2009 I experienced my first “WOD” and was immediately hooked on the intensity, adrenaline and fulfillment of complete such a task. After that first WOD, I spent every second I could with my friend in his gym, soaking up every bit of experience and information as I possibly could.
I come from a Military background. I my coaching style is derived from my military experience and has been modified by the Crossfit community. I love helping people lift weight that they never thought possible and nothing makes me happier than seeing someone accomplish a goal. I am a firm believer in practicing how you play (or work) and in my experience it has be overwhelmingly evident that continued physical fitness in everyone’s live is important to balance the stressors of life.
From computer body to elite athlete. The transformation has come in waves over the past three years. When I first came to the gym in 2009 for my fitness assessment I was out of shape to say the least, The funny thing about it is I didn’t really know I was unhealthy. After all I surfed almost every day, I didn’t eat red meat, I didn’t drink, and only eat sweets after dinner.
